ALL PARTNERSHIPS ARE WELCOME

Closeness and connection can be difficult to maintain.

Love is a feeling. And just like any other emotion, love evolves over time. The ups-and-downs of life in combination with managing regular daily responsibilities can cause distance, separateness, and conflict between partners that can be difficult to resolve on your own.

Maybe you’re experiencing:

  • A desire to improve your relationship

  • Having the same fight over and over without resolution

  • Feeling like you aren’t getting something you need in the relationship

  • A major relationship stressor or life transition such as betrayal, financial strain, new parenthood, new empty nest, military deployment or reunification

  • Being at a crossroads and not knowing how to move forward with your partner

A fulfilling relationship is one that allows you to share your experiences in an open and honest way without judgement.

  • At The Collective Therapy & Wellness, we view partnerships as an extension of each individual’s experiences in their family and previous relationships. Whether we like it or not, we tend to take our family norms and patterns into our personal relationships as we begin to create a family of our own. We help couples to create a new way of relating that fits within each person’s wants and needs from one another.

Together, we will uncover patterns contributing to stagnancy and conflict in your relationship. We will discover the root causes to the interruptions in your feelings of closeness with your partner. We will build better understanding and acceptance of one another to help you navigate your relationship in a healthier, more fulfilling, way

Couples therapy can help you:

  • Learn about yourself and your partner

  • Identify and express your wants and needs in your relationship

  • Develop healthier ways of relating to your partner— even when you disagree

  • Develop new levels of intimacy and closeness

FAQS

Common questions about couples therapy

  • Couples therapy explores your relationship with your partner and works to improve the dynamic playing out between the both of you.

Individual therapy is a great add on to couples counseling as it can improve your relationship with yourself by helping you to gain self-awareness and heal on your own.

At The Collective Therapy & Wellness, the therapist you are working with as a couple will not be the same therapist you work with as an individual.

  • Sessions are 55-minutes in length. During the first few sessions, your therapist will spend time getting to know you — both as a couple and as individuals.

In doing so, you will learn about one another and how you function in the relationship.

From there, we will come up with a plan together to help you achieve your goals.

  • At The Collective Therapy & Wellness , when we work with couples and partnerships, we focus on relationship dynamics between people. We work on building closeness and understanding to improve intimacy between partners— a feat that can only be done when both partners are present.

Also, we work with both partners at the same time so as to remain unbiased and to act as a neutral witness to your relationship in order to help you overcome challenges as a team.

If during couples therapy, we discover that one or both partners would benefit from individual therapy, your therapist can assist in finding a therapist whom you can work with on your own.

  • If for whatever reason, couples counseling is terminated and one of you wants to continue individual counseling with us, we can see you individually, provided that both partners are aware of this arrangement.

In some cases, we might determine it’s in your best interest to do individual work with a different provider all together.

If in the future, both partners want to resume couples counseling, we’ll need to refer you to a different couples therapist for reasons mentioned above.

  • Couples therapy provides a safe space to have difficult conversations in a vulnerable way, which can stir up emotions and patterns in your way of relating.

Sorting through challenging emotions is part of the process and needs to happen, but your therapist will use conflicts that emerge throughout therapy as an opportunity for you to learn and grow.

  • At The Collective Therapy & Wellness, we view relationships and partnerships as a dance between people where, dynamically, they act and react based on perceptions of events and situations in front of them. In Couples Therapy, your therapist will enter into this dance with you to help you uncover areas where your rhythm may be out of sync as well as help you make connections between past experiences and current dynamics that are interfering with your connection with one another. Your therapist dances with you, acts as your spotter, your instructor, your microphone (or your earbuds), and the dancefloor— all the while remaining neutral in supporting each of you. Our fees are structured to reflect all that it takes for your therapist to provide quality therapy that deeply connects with each person’s experience in the relationship.

Our 55-minute rate for couples therapy is $250.
